We were inspired by a recent essay by The Princess of Wales following her visit to Reggio Emilia, Italy, where she reflected on the importance of nature, creativity and relationships in shaping children’s early experiences.
Her observations resonate strongly with the Reggio Emilia approach that continues to inspire our practice at E-Bridge Pre-School. At the heart of this philosophy is a deep respect for children as capable, curious and competent learners who construct knowledge through exploration, relationships and meaningful encounters with the world around them.
The essay highlights the importance of nurturing children’s sense of curiosity and wonder during the early years. These are values that guide our educators every day as they create environments that encourage children to ask questions, express ideas, collaborate with others and develop confidence in their own thinking.
The Reggio Emilia approach reminds us that learning extends beyond academic outcomes. Children thrive when they feel connected to their community, immersed in rich experiences and supported by caring relationships. Through play, inquiry, creativity and reflection, they develop the foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
As we reflect on the essay, we are reminded of the shared commitment across the early childhood sector to create conditions in which every child can flourish — through meaningful relationships, thoughtful environments and opportunities to explore their world with curiosity and joy.
