Language Immersion in a Multicultural Setting

We offer a holistic bilingual programme for children aged 18 months to 6 years, with a unique emphasis on language immersion and cultural appreciation. In addition to English, we currently offer Mandarin and Malay, and we look forward to introducing Tamil as enrolment grows—ensuring children are supported in connecting with their roots while embracing the nation’s rich tapestry of cultures.

Learning Stories

Big Idea: How the world works Concept: Growth

Our inquiry begins with a simple question from a child during a nature walk: “Why is there green stuff on the tree?” This sparks a deeper exploration into moss and its growth.

We introduce children to moss and guide them outdoors to search for it around trees, walkways, and drains. They observe closely and share their discoveries with excitement. Back in class, we reflect: What does moss need to grow? One child suggests, “Moss needs water and soil.”

To investigate further, we conduct three experiments:

– Does moss grow better with water?
– Does it prefer light or dark environments?
– Does it grow more on rough or smooth surfaces?

Through these hands-on activities, children develop their understanding of growth by observing, questioning, and drawing conclusions. They document their findings and express their ideas through drawing.

This inquiry also connects to broader learning. Children explore plant life cycles, participate in movement activities inspired by music, and practise balance and comparison in physical play — all reinforcing observation, expression and critical thinking.

Through curiosity and exploration, children come to see growth not just as a scientific process, but as something they can witness, question, and understand in their everyday world.
